Black and white from colour

On Tuesday we discussed the variety of ways of creating black and white images. The most common way is by choosing the black and white setting in the camera (if this is available). This rarely gives the best end results and also permanently dumps the colour information which perhaps you might later decide that you wanted to keep.

I produced a video to show how to convert colour images to black and white using Photoshop. This can also be achieved with Photoshop Elements or free applications like Gimp. You can also find guidance on undertaking some simple edits using Gimp here
