More about the dying craft of the street photographer

Before the class started last week I showed a video about Afghan street photographers. The Guardian published an interesting article about these photographers last Thursday.

I remember seeing these old cameras on the streets of Latin America and would often get into long conversations with the photographers. The photographers would often congregate in the centre of towns close to churches to photograph newly weds and official buildings where the public often needed photo ID images. In Havana some of the photographers started to tap into the tourist trade and would create composite images combining the sitter with Che Guevara or The Spice Girls. This was all done in the camera without Photoshop.

Here is one of my shots of a Cuban street photographer.
